Dear prospect partners.

PIHC Recycling Service is, a new and innovative Committee, seeking your partnership to combat the lack of proper Solid Waste Management, the Dump and lack of Recycling on St. Maarten.

We all have experienced the horrible and harmful effects of the constant dump fires for years.

Having researched the many projects globally to minimize our waste being taken to the Dumps, we are now ready to present you with our plan of actions which consists of sorting, shipping and/or the Recycling of our waste, aka garbage.

To accomplish this we are collaborating/partnering with credible Haulers and Off loaders”.

OUR OBJECTIVES ARE:

• Reduce the amount of waste being taken to the Dump sites;
• Reduce the number of dangerous Dump fires;
• Reduce the amount of littering in the districts;
• Generate business/employment/income for persons in the districts, while reducing crime;
• Create various types of recycling businesses/opportunities locally (within the districts).
• Train, assist, guide, financially aid/invest in those involved in Recycling businesses.

In this starting phase of our project we will offer and guarantee you the following services:

• Collection of all sorted Recyclables such as, plastics, aluminum/tin cans, glass bottles, paper and cardboard items;
• As a partner, in order to facilitate your sorting efforts while keeping cost low, you will be supplied with, at first, a color coded transparent Recycling bag, to be replaced with a locally manufactured Recycling bin;
• As per your needs, for a small additional investment, multiple Recycling bins could be supplied;
• Recyclables will be collected 1 day per week but could increase as per your request;
• Recyclables will be inspected for any contaminants and separated accordingly;
• Recyclables will be delivered to and shipped off Island/locally recycled by our Off loaders;
• Assist with the management of all other waste to be collected by the Government Haulers
• *At soonest, we intend to add collecting of Organic (food/green) waste to our services.*
  

In addition to our regular service, we aim to:

• Reduce the amount of litter along the roadsides by working closely with the Haulers;
• Reduce the amount of bulk waste being dumped along the roadsides;
• Increase collection of the amount and variety of Recyclable waste being taken to the Dump.

Please seek guidelines as to what should go into your recycling bins and what should go into your green or blue (Government) bins.
